take help from him or her while making food ,it will help in this also.
for example
ask your child to cut fruits in different shapes like star heart etc using cookie cutter.

so for Healthy weight gain,you should give food items like boiled potatoes, sweet potatoes,rice which are full of starch.
give energy dense fruits like apple banana papaya etc.
add ghee in every meal of your child.
you can also give full cream milk with dry fruits powder.

there is difference between to look thin and to have low weight gain.
so first ensure that your child weighs enough or not.
I mean ,as a child is 5 years old ,he or she should have weight between 15 to 17 kg.
