Q.

#asktheexpert Hello, my daughter is 4 years old and lately she has developed a habit of holding poop for 3-4 days due to which she feels constipated. Although she is taking her meals timely but still not passing stool accordingly. Please advice for the same.

A. Ensure the child has a high-water and high-fiber diet, including foods like papaya, banana, oats, fennel seeds, raisins, and vegetables and fruits with skins. If prescribed, continue constipation medication asd symptoms often require completing the course. Reduce milk intake to 200-300 ml daily. Constipation usually improves as the child ages, and medications provide only temporary relief. d
