#AskTheExpert Hello, my 14 month old daughter is suffering from cold and cough. We have already consulted her paed and given her medicines after which her fever and congestion is gone but her occasional coughing and runny nose (sometimes blocked) is still there after completing medicine. Please advise how can we get this better. Medicines given: Augmentin syrup 3ml 1-0-1 for 5days Maxtra syrup 3ml 1-0-1 for 5days Nasoclear saline drop Otogesic ear drop for 2days SOS - paracetamol drop(1.4ml) and otrivin paediatric nasal drop

A. This may due to either allergy or infection and some times due to climate changes and temperature variations . For cold you can give drops wikoryl AF 0.5 ml to the child 2-3 times per day. try to prevent temperature variations around the child and give nasal saline drops frequently for nasal blockage, simple cough and cold. Indirect steam is helpful. Home remedies like Tulsi Ginger diluted with water combination (honey can be added after 1 year age)and turmeric withz milk at least 2 times per day. Give warm water to drink If no improvement in 2 or 3 days then meet your doctor paracetamol for fever and pain.
