Q.

#AskTheExpert hello doctor my daughter 6 month old has some white nodules on her gums. We noticed it when she was 4.5 month old. What can it be and how can it be treated?

A. If your infant has a small white or yellow-tinted bump on their gum line or the roof of their mouth, it's likely an Epstein pearl. This is a type of gingival cyst that affects newborns. Epstein pearls are fairly common, occurring in 60 to 85 percent of newborns.
