#asktheexpert Hello doctor,my 17 months old daughter is having severe constipation from last three months, she cries a lot while pushing but unable to push, today is her fourth day without passing stool, we have tried looze syrup, muout syrup but to no result , plz suggest

A. can you suggest any medicine for immediate relief as this is her fourth day without passing stool, and as a result she is not eating anything

A. at this age the child should pass stool regularly. if the consistency is hard and the child is having pain while passing stool it is considered as constipation. give plenty of water and fibre diet to the child it is important txo give fibre diet from cereals pulses vegetables and fruits avoid giving more than 400 ml milk everyday and avoid giving packet and processed foods as well as biscuits and refined food adding papaya , fennel seeds water , oats pear prunes pineapple banana kishmish to the regular diet will help in decreasing constipation.
