it is usually present due to the throat mucus / thick saliva as well as respiratory secretions
which pass on from respiratory tract (parts of nasal cavity , oral cavity and throat) to the gastrointestinal tract by swallowing and then comes out through the anal canal mixed with the stool.
it may be present in less quantity during regular times and would be in in more quantity during allergy as well as cough and cold in the child.
mucus in the stool is also associated with gastrointestinal infections as a less constipation as well as indigestion.
treatment is usually given according to the cause

POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy3 years agoA. Breastfed baby poop is considered normal when it's a mustard yellow, green or brown color. It is typically seedy and pasty in texture and may be runny enough to resemble diarrhea. Healthy breastfed stools will smell sweet (unlike regular bowel-movement odor).
