Q.

#asktheexpert Hello Doctor! I am a working mother and will join my work when my baby will be around 5 and a half months.Rigthnow my daughter is fully dependent on breastfeeding. But I am worried how I can manage this after joining my work? Moreover, will it be fine to start those food items advised to be given after 6 months in the 5th month of age?

A. The World Health Organization recommends that all babies be exclusively breastfed for 6 months, then gradually introduced to appropriate foods after 6 months while continuing to breastfeed for 2 years or beyond. Stopping breastfeeding is called weaning. It is up to you and your baby to decide when the time is right.
