POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy6 months agoA. If your one-month-old baby has fever, vomiting, and cough, please take extra caution because newborns are delicate. Here’s what you can do:
1. Immediate Steps at Home
✔ Check Fever: If temperature is above 100.4°F (38°C), consult a doctor immediately.
✔ Keep Baby Hydrated: Continue breastfeeding or formula feeding frequently.
✔ Hold Baby Upright After Feeding: This helps reduce vomiting caused by cough.
✔ Saline Drops for Nose Block: If baby has congestion, use saline nasal drops.
✔ Steam Inhalation (Only Indirect): Sit with baby in a steamy bathroom for 5-10 mins (do not place baby directly near steam).
2. When to Visit the Doctor? (Important Signs)
⚠ Fever above 100.4°F (urgent for newborns!)
⚠ Vomiting repeatedly (more than 2-3 times).
⚠ Baby not feeding well or refusing milk.
⚠ Breathing difficulty, fast breathing, or chest pulling in while breathing.
⚠ Baby is drowsy, inactive, or very irritable.
3. Do Not Give Any Medicine Without a Doctor’s Advice
Newborns should not be given fever or cough medicines without a pediatrician's prescription.
Since your baby is just one month old, I highly recommend you see a doctor immediately because fever and vomiting can indicate infections that need quick treatment.
