A. Understanding Your Scan Report (7.5 Months Pregnancy) Your scan report shows that: Cervical length: 2.9 cm Internal os (O) is open V sign is present What This Means: The cervical length refers to the length of the lower part of the uterus (cervix) that holds the baby inside. Normally, at 7.5 months (30-32 weeks), the cervix should be at least 3 cm or more. A cervical length of 2.9 cm is slightly short, but not severely alarming. However, the internal os being open and V sign present indicates that the cervix may be starting to thin out or open early, which could increase the risk of preterm labor. Precautions to Take: Bed Rest: Avoid standing or walking for long hours, and rest as much as possible. Avoid Strain: No heavy lifting, squatting, or excessive physical activity. No Intercourse: Sexual activity may put pressure on the cervix, so it’s better to avoid it. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to prevent uterine contractions caused by dehydration. Monitor for Symptoms: Watch for pain, cramps, pressure in the pelvis, vaginal bleeding, or increased discharge. If any of these occur, consult your doctor immediately. Follow-Up Scans: Your doctor may suggest frequent ultrasounds to monitor cervical changes. Medication or Cervical Cerclage: In some cases, doctors may prescribe progesterone supplements to support the cervix. If the risk of preterm labor is high, a cervical stitch (cerclage) might be considered. Next Steps: Since your cervix is shorter than normal and showing early signs of opening, follow strict precautions and stay in regular touch with your doctor. They will monitor your condition closely and guide you on the safest way to continue your pregnancy. If you experience any unusual pain, contractions, or leaking fluid, seek medical help immediately.
