A. When introducing solid foods to a 6-month-old Indian baby, it's important to start with single-ingredient, easy-to-digest foods. Here are some first foods you can introduce: 1. **Rice Cereal:** Begin with rice cereal. Cook rice until soft and blend it with water or breast milk to create a smooth, runny consistency. 2. **Dal (Lentil) Soup:** Moong dal (green gram) is a good choice. Cook and mash or blend the dal with water to make a thin soup. 3. **Pureed Vegetables:** Start with soft and easily digestible vegetables like carrots, peas, and sweet potatoes. Steam and puree them for a smooth texture. 4. **Fruit Purees:** Offer fruits like apples, pears, and bananas. Peel, core, and blend or mash them to create a smooth puree. 5. **Khichdi:** Introduce a simple khichdi made with rice and moong dal. Gradually add mild spices like cumin for flavor. 6. **Suji (Semolina) Porridge:** Cook suji with water or milk until it forms a smooth and thin porridge. 7. **Pureed Avocado:** Avocado is a nutrient-rich fruit that can be mashed or blended for a creamy texture. 8. **Yogurt:** Plain, full-fat yogurt can be introduced, provided your baby tolerates dairy. Always introduce one new food at a time and wait a few days before introducing another. This helps identify any potential allergies or sensitivities. Pay attention to your baby's cues and preferences. Consult with your pediatrician before introducing solids and for guidance on specific foods based on your baby's health and development.
