POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy4 months agoA. A 1-year and 5-month-old (17-month-old) typically needs about 12–14 hours of sleep in 24 hours, including:
10–12 hours at night 1–2 hours of daytime nap(s)
So if your daughter:
Sleeps only 1–2 hours in the entire day (including night), that is not normal But if she sleeps 10–12 hours at night and just 1–2 hours during the day, that can be normal for some toddlers Let’s clarify:
If total sleep = only 1–2 hours in 24 hours
– Not normal
– May indicate discomfort, hyperactivity, overtiredness, or sleep disturbances
– Pediatric evaluation is needed
If night sleep = 10–12 hours & day sleep = 1–2 hours
– Completely normal
– Some toddlers drop to one short nap a day by this age
What You Can Do: Create a consistent sleep routine (same nap and bedtime) Keep her active during the day and avoid screen time before bed Check for discomfort (teething, gas, etc.) Ensure room is dark, quiet, and cool
