A. Babies should generally not be given cow's milk as their main drink until they are at least 12 months old. Before this age, cow's milk does not provide the right balance of nutrients that a baby needs for healthy growth and development. Additionally, it can cause digestive issues and may even increase the risk of iron deficiency or allergies. Here’s a guideline on when and how to introduce cow's milk: Under 12 months: Breast milk or formula is the primary source of nutrition. Cow's milk may be introduced in small quantities (like in cooking or with cereal), but it should not replace breast milk or formula. Around 12 months: After your baby turns one, you can start transitioning to cow’s milk. Begin by offering small amounts of whole milk, as it provides essential fats for brain development. Gradual Transition: If your baby is used to formula or breast milk, introduce cow's milk gradually, starting with mixing it with breast milk or formula before switching entirely. Always check with your pediatrician before introducing cow’s milk, especially if there are concerns about allergies or digestion.
