Q.

#asktheexpert For my 5.6 year old daughter,I would like to know that in the afternoon it's better for a child to sleep or to play? Usually I made her to sleep once she is back from school but I can hear neighborhood children play games .So I get this question what is better for a child development - to play or sleep in afternoon?

A. it is completely normal for some children to eventually outgrow the need for an afternoon nap. as children grow, their sleep patterns change, and some may no longer require the extra sleep during the day. as long as the child is still getting adequate rest at night dand doesn't exhibit signs of excessive tiredness or crankiness, not taking an afternoon nap is perfectly fine. it's important to prioritize overall sleep quality and ensure that the child is well-rested, whether that involves napping or not. d
