ExpertDr. Minal AcharyaNutritionist7 years agoA. after 6 months complete top foods should be introduced along with breastfeeding. however biscuit should not be given it is not at all healthy. biscuit is refined flour ,high in sugar added flavour colour and zero nutrition. baby's nutrient requirements are high but stomach capacity is less so nutritious food should be given guideline for correct complementary foods Soft, mashed and hygienically prepared foods like you can begin with porridges (like rice, Ragi, wheat flour , moong dal and rice flour mix) , kheer then dal-rice with vegetables, veg khichadi, soft mashed fruits, curds, later mashed paneer cheese Vegetable Daliya consistency of food should be like that of ghee avoid water thin foods like thin dals and rice water, soups and fruit juices as they do not provide enough nutrition and fill stomach. add ghee/oil on top of food for making it energy dense and squeeze some lemon where possible to increase iron absorption. start with 3-4 tsp and then about half katori per meal about 3 meals per day. give 1 food for about 3-6days for baby to accept and to see how baby tolerates it then introduce another new food Initially give after a breastfeed, or between two feeds; later give as breakfast, lunch ,dinner

Janani ViswanathanMom of 2 children7 years agoA. No. Biscuits will constipate the baby and will fill the tummy. Then the baby will start resisting other foods. So always restrict biscuits to travel times as instant foods. At home try giving healthy snacks to babies. After six months You can Start with Dal or chawal ka pani, after few days start with Fruit purees like apples, pear, avacado, papaya, mashed banana, vegetable puree like carrots, pumpkin, peas, mashed sweet potato or potatoes, pulses, porridge like ragi or oats, veg rice, dal rice, veg kichdi, RASAM rice, steamed idli, home made cereals. Start with easily digestible foods first during day time and then move on to the heavy ones. Also start one food at a time and wait for two to three days to see if it suits your baby and then start something new again. Always follow this two day gap rule between introducing new foods and start any new food only during day time. Also avoid using sugar and salt until the baby is one year old. The babies get the required sugar and salt from all the solid food items , breastmilk or formula they intake. They don't need any additional salt or sugar to be added, extra sugar or salt will not do any good for the baby. Baby will not realise the taste until it is introduced and won't find it blunt as like adults. So baby will accept the blunt taste without salt and sugar until we introduce it.
