#AskTheExpert Child is 14 months old. Passing 6 pooops a day from last 1 and half month. Mucus in poop from last 2 days.

A. But he had no cough or cold in last month.. still passing huge amount pf mucus.. what should I do

A. mucus in the stool is very common phenomenon. it is usually present due to the throat mucus / thick saliva as well as respiratory secretions which pass on from respiratory tract (parts of nasal cavity , oral cavity and throat) to the gastrointestinal tract by swallowing and then comes out through the anal canal mixed with the stool. it may be present in less quantity during regular times and would be in more quantity during allergy as well as cough and cold in the childd. mucus in the stool is also associated with gastrointestinal infections as a less constipation as well as indigestion. treatment is usually given according to the cause give easily digestible food
