Q.

#asktheexpert Baby is 8 days old, and feeding from Mother. Weight is 2.7kg. Is it good to start formula ? or will the baby manage to gain weight on its own.

A. What do you want to give her formula if you’re able to produce breastmilk. In the first 15 days the baby will lose the 10% of the body weight and there after the baby will start gaining around 25 to 30 g per day. A. Hey Don’t be in a hurry see complete one month of your delivery and see how much has your child gain okay if your child has gained about like 400 g on the minimum side or 300 g to 400 g on minimum side then it is a good game so you go ahead with breastfeeding only if you feel it is not enough then you start with formula feeding but as of now you should at least try on breastfeeding first
