#askthedoctor my daughter can’t speak properly somebody says it’s normal that some child’s are going to late to speak is it ok

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 5 m old boy3 years agoA. proper language / speech development will start between 18 months of age to 2 years of age.
there is no need to worry before that just concentrate on the diet and regular interaction with the child.
also speech and language develops properly with more people available to interact with the child
avoid usage of tv mobile and laptop because they are the most common reasons for delayed speech and language development.
the most important thing is that before speech understanding of the commands given bcy the parents should be present.
by 18 monthsc if the child is not following basic commands then only you have to meet the doctor
requirement of speech therapy will also be discussed by your doctor

Yes Sometimes kids pick up by the later age also to speak but that’s completely normal so but still to be on the safer side I am just going to advise you as of now that once you should definitely get a check with the speech therapist the doctor would be able to give you a better clarity on the situation
