Q.

#askexpert can only few sips of cow milk causes constipation? My daughter is 1yr old. Earlier she used to potty daily but from few days she is not doing potty daily.. she is very active and no sign of discomfort seen

A. my daughter is almost 13months old and I hv started giving her cow milk from last week that too some days she didn't even taste it and few days only few sips like hardly 20-30ml

A. Cow's milk should be given to the baby only after completion of 1 year of age because the protein and fat in cow's milk is hard to digest before that and many a times there could be cow's milk protein allergy in babies and lactose intolerance which could be severe sometimes. Also early introduction of cows milk can lead to iron deficiency anemia as cow's milk lacks iron and vit c . Also t here could be micro bleeding in intestine because of the heavy protein of cow's milk .
