POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy9 months agoA. It's common for a 9-day-old baby to pass urine frequently, especially after feeding, as their small bladder fills quickly. However, the absence of stool (potty) after every feed might be a bit concerning but is often still normal at this stage. Newborns typically pass stool multiple times a day, but frequency can vary. Some breastfed babies, for example, may go up to several days without passing stool because breast milk is easily digested, leaving very little waste. Formula-fed babies might pass stool more regularly.
If your baby is otherwise feeding well, gaining weight, and is not showing signs of distress (such as discomfort, bloating, or fussiness), it may not be a cause for concern. However, if the baby is not passing stool at all for more than a couple of days, or if there are other signs like vomiting or abdominal bloating, it is worth consulting your pediatrician.
In general, a pediatrician will consider a variety of factors, such as feeding patterns and overall health, before deciding if further action is needed. It's always good to err on the side of caution, so feel free to reach out to your doctor if you're unsure.
