A. if the consistency of the stool is normal that is semi solid to solid there is no need to worry about the frequency of the stool. the frequency can vary for 4 to 5 times per day and sometimes the child will not pass stool for few days also. also do no worry about colour and smell of the stool when stool consistencys is semisolid to solid. you have to meet the dr only if it is totally watery stool or it is hard stool or the child is having pain while passing the stool.

A. It is quite common for the bowel habits of infants to change over time, and variations in frequency can be normal. Here are some points to consider regarding your 6-month-old baby pooping five times a day: 1. **Diet Changes**: - If your baby has recently started eating solid foods, this can lead to changes in bowel habits. Introducing new foods can affect the frequency and consistency of stools. 2. **Breastfed vs. Formula-fed**: - Breastfed babies often have more frequent bowel movements compared to formula-fed babies. This can change as they grow older and start on solids. 3. **Health and Behavior**: - As long as your baby is healthy, gaining weight, and not showing signs of discomfort, pain, or distress, frequent bowel movements are usually not a cause for concern. - Look for signs of dehydration, such as fewer wet diapers, dry mouth, or unusual fussiness. 4. **Consistency of Stool**: - The consistency of the stool is also important. Normal baby stools can be soft, pasty, or even somewhat loose, but should not be watery or hard and dry. 5. **Signs of Illness**: - If the stools are watery, very loose, or if your baby is showing signs of illness (fever, vomiting, irritability, or dehydration), it could be a sign of an infection or another health issue. In such cases, consult a pediatrician. 6. **Normal Variations**: - Every baby is different, and bowel movement frequency can vary widely. Some babies might have several bowel movements a day, while others might have one every few days. If you have concerns about the frequency of your baby’s bowel movements or if there are any other symptoms that worry you, it’s best to consult your pediatrician. They can provide reassurance, conduct any necessary evaluations, and ensure that everything is progressing normally.
