Trying to avoid as much as possible but then they might feel unheard. So hear them acknowledge them try to reason them still not then divert them.

First will try to explain and divert him for the topic and even after if he doesn't listen and doesn't stop crying and when he goes uncontrollable I put him in a corner bound and leave him cry and yell until he wants inside the bound (I say I won't talk to him until he stays calm) after few minutes he will automatically come running to me asking sorry and hugging me for his mistake and listens to me for what I was explaining. Yelling at kids will only increase their anger and hatred towards us. Just leave them on their own and they will do fine.
