A Boy Child or a Girl Child have been treated differently since ages. A desire of having a \'Son\' rather than a \'Daughter\' is still there in most parts of the country.Does it really matter for you? Why do you think our society has this preference for having Son rather than Daughter?

its matter for society not for mom..so i never cared abt society bcoz society will not come wen we are in trouble only my child will be my side whatever situation is there....

Having a child is a blessing. As someone who has to go for treatment to conceive one, I can say that all that mattered to me was that my baby was born healthy. The gender equation comes to play afterwards. Does it matter to the mother, I don’t think so but to the society it surely matters. There is this deep rooted desire in our society to take the name of the father forward and the thinking that no matter how much success is garnered by a girl child, she will go to another family & she will be expected to take care of the family as her foremost duty. I have given birth to a boy and I fully intend to raise him to be a person who is understanding of his sisters and his future wives ambitions is proud of their success and who feels that he is equally responsible for the comfort of family. If we All teach to celebrate a women’s success our sons, it is then We will be able to create a better society for our daughters.

2. many parents have been expecting returns especially in matters of money & staying as girls will be married off to her in-laws
3. parents have to give cash in bulk in the name of dowry or pocket money even if she\'s a single child, another added reason for corruption
4. bringing up girls are comparatively more expensive to some extent
5. many parents believe that they are more attached to child if opposite gender, I couldn\'t understand that thought
these are few reasons

as a mother, today I have a soft corner for girls than boys
