breastfeeding can sometimes require a little boost. It can require some extra energy and loving care at the beginning if a baby doesn’t latch right away, falls asleep while breastfeeding, or simply takes a while to empty the breasts. The first few weeks of breastfeeding — and mothering in general — can be emotionally taxing as well.
A partner can maintain boundaries when others may demand the time or attention of the breastfeeding parent.
Some breastfeeding mothers feel “touched out” and desire less touch from their partner.

A new mother needs all the support she can get especially during the first few months after the birth of a child. She needs to heal physically and get a lot of help for her mental and emotional well being, as there are a lot of hormonal changes happening in her body. Breastfeeding is a wonderful way to bond with the baby and it takes a lot of time and effort. It also includes sleepless nights. These are the reasons why the role of the partner is of utmost importance. The partner can help with some of the household chores or even night feedings by giving the baby a bottle using formula or pumped breastmilk so that the mother can get her much needed rest. My partner and I would take turns in holding the baby, feeding him or changing his diapers in the middle of the night. He made sure that I got good rest so that I could heal well.
