Hello
My baby is almost two months old now.
I have had very much difficulties in breastfeeding ma baby. In the beginning everything was fine . All of a sudden nipples began to get sore and cracked, it was 4 to 5 cracks on a single one. It was very painful and i used to cry out loud while feeding ma baby. Anyhow i had to feed him as he is so small. I consulted with ma gynaec and she put me on medication and adviced to use breast pumps and nipple shields. The medics finally worked out but use of breastpumps and shields din’t. It was a challenge to apply oinments as i had to feed him very often. Initially while i used the shields it was good as there was little pain while feeding. But gradually ma nipples widened and cracked and actually bleeded and i stopped using them. Then my doctor advised me another way to deal with fuller breasts. She asked to apply heat to the breasts( by pouring adequate hot water) and then squeeze out excess milk. Trust me that worked miraculously than breast pumps and shields for me. I would squeeze out milk and bottle(sterilized in hot water for 15 min) it and feed ma baby and during the time would apply the oinment which now stayed for a longer time. I dint bottle feed him all the time as it would make him away from breastfeeding. When i had much pain i used to bottle feed and then i would feed him myself. And finally ma nipples got healed. And i recieved some tips from ma doc so that it doesnt come back again and those are:

1. Put your whole nipple into the baby’s mouth while feeding(all that dark portion around the nipple should go inside the baby’s mouth)
2. During pregnancy women should always massage breasts with oil(preferably coconut and olive oils) and pull out the nipples so that the breasts are always moisturised and there is no problem of retracted nipples.
3. Keep moisturising your breasts in a natural way(using oils) after childbirth also. As moisturised breasts have very less tendency to sore and crack.
4. Avoid wearing tight innerwears.

Those who are having difficulty in breastfeeding the baby , should never ever stop trying. The baby will first refuse to latch but eventually will learn to when you keep on introducing to feed.

Those who have the issue of low milk should cut out the intervals of breastfeeding as continous latching increases milk
Having foods like fenugreek( soaked overnight and add very little rawrice and add cook and add some salt and coconut milk to it- makes a porridge, best to increase breastmilk) ,milk, boiled egg, grinding almonds and milk together and having, oats etc have helped me alot

Hope this is helpful

I have breastfed my son for good 2 years. I was determined from the starting that I would only breastfeed him for the first 6 months. My grandmother wanted to give him water and solids from 4rth month. But I told I will give him my milk will give him the required nourishment till 6 months. Also after 1 year my mom told me to ween him from drinking as I was becoming lean. But again it was my string determination to feed him till 2yrs and Iam proud to say I achieved it.
