Top 10 remedies to control postpartum hair fall (some of them are great time savers too!)

Eat right

Eat fruits, vegetables and drink plenty of fluids to replenish all the lost minerals & nutrients from your body. It will stimulate hair growth. Add foods like nuts, fish, eggs, beans, and flax seeds to your diet.

Massage your hair regularly

Pick good quality organic hair oil like coconut, almond, castor, or olive oil for an effective postpartum hair loss treatment. Use lukewarm oil to massage scalp at least one to two times a week. Follow it up by wrapping a wet hot towel on your head for five minutes. Shampoo your hair, thereafter. Follow this hair care regime regularly for at least three months to get great results.

Select the correct postpartum hair loss treatment shampoo

Shampooing your hair has two aspects. First – the selection of your correct shampoo; Second – the technique of shampooing. Pick an organic shampoo that protects your hair while cleaning your scalp and hair effectively. Check labels to ensure that the ingredients are natural and healthy for your hair. See that the shampoo does not have Parabens, SLS, Mineral oil, SLES, or any other potentially harmful chemicals.  Try our Natural, Toxin-Free Pregnancy Protein Shampoo which has Gentle, Low-Lathering Coconut-Based Cleansers to clean your hair with the Natural Proteins from Wheat and Silk strengthen, moisturise and help reduce the damage caused by harsh chemicals and pollution.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek is great for treating hair loss during pregnancy. Soak few fenugreek seeds in a bowl of water overnight. Apply this fenugreek water to the scalp and leave for a couple of hours. Shampoo your hair. Follow this remedy two-three times a week. Additionally, you can also grind the soaked fenugreek seeds into a paste, apply it on the roots and wash it off after 20 mins. It does wonders to the hair.

Curd

An excellent conditioner for the hair, curd has benefits manifold. Regular curd massage on the scalp and hair will strengthen the hair follicles and help them regain their lost sheen. Apply once or twice a week and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse & shampoo thoroughly.

Egg

We recommend adding it to your diet as well as applying it on your mane. Use the white of two eggs and add some olive oil to it. Mix well, apply and leave for half an hour. Once dry, shampoo thoroughly.

Treat your hair gently

Abstain from using hair styling products, hair dyes, and chemical sprays when you are suffering from excessive hair loss. Use a comb with wide bristles and avoid combing when the hair is wet.

DIY Hair Mask

Take a ripe avocado, mash it up well and add a tablespoon of coconut milk to it. Apply on the hair scalp and leave it to dry. Wash off with a gentle cleansing shampoo. Avocadoes are vitamin storehouses that boost collagen production. Coconut milk has the goodness of protein which is essential for proper hair growth.

Trim! Trim! Trim!

What better time to get a new look! Shorten your hair length by a few inches so that they are easier to style. Now you are busy with the baby, a shorter hairstyle will be easy to manage and take care of.

Take supplements

Check with your healthcare provider for vitamin deficiency. You could start with a multivitamin or a biotin supplement. Biotin boosts hair growth and adds strength to the weak and dull locks of hair.
As per statistics, about 85% of new moms suffer from hair fall post-delivery. So cheer up, as you are not the only one witnessing this phenomenon. Follow these simple and effective remedies to treat your hair fall woes. Eat right, drink plenty of fresh fruit juices, and avoid all sorts of stress.
