Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children4 years agoA. Cough and Cold needs to be treated only after a proper examination by a doctor after the exact cause is diagnosed.may be infection or allergy.it may not be related to food items but seasonal changes may aggravate the susceptibility to get infected . maintain good immunity of the child with proper diet and supplements. if associated with fever too, calpol can be given three times a day.. give steamto relieve blocked nose and nasoclear drops multiple times. Cough Syrup or nebulization should be given only after a proper evaluation according to the type of cough .self medication may not be so helpful so please consult your doctor once. if the cough is productive you can give brozeet-ls or ambrrodil syrup for now only n continue only after doctor's advice.avoid refrigerated items and give simple home-made preparations a required.child may not be interested in food due to altered sensations of taste bud in illness will gradually begin to eat as symptoms resolve.
