My daughter is 1 year and 4 months old; she wakes up crying at night, and I cannot figure out the reason. She hasn't learned to speak yet and mostly communicates through gestures.

A. My daughter is 1 year and 5 months old, but she doesn't speak much and relies more on gestures; is this normal?

A. Most common three reasons would be stomach pain the second would be hunger and third is nightmare as all these things are very common to be seen in this so you just have to monitor the behaviour and if your child can explain with a hand gestures and ask if it is stomach pain or hunger accordingly you will understand
