POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 10 m old boy11 months agoA. If your daughter's SGOT (AST) and SGPT (ALT) levels have been abnormal for the last 4 months, it could indicate an issue with her liver health. Here’s what you can do: 1. Possible Causes of High SGOT & SGPT ✅ Infections – Viral hepatitis, dengue, typhoid, or other infections. ✅ Liver Issues – Fatty liver, inflammation, or mild liver damage. ✅ Medications – Some antibiotics, painkillers, or supplements can impact liver function. ✅ Nutritional Deficiencies – Low protein or vitamin B intake. ✅ Obesity or Fatty Liver – If she is overweight, it could be affecting her liver. 2. What You Can Do? ✔ Healthy Diet for Liver: More fruits & vegetables – Papaya, beetroot, carrot juice, oranges. High-protein foods – Dal, paneer, eggs (if non-veg), nuts. Plenty of fluids – Coconut water, buttermilk, lemon water. Avoid fried, processed, and oily foods. Reduce sugar intake – Soft drinks, sweets, and packaged snacks. ✔ Lifestyle Changes: Encourage physical activity like running, yoga, or mild exercise. Adequate sleep – Lack of rest can affect liver healing. ✔ Monitor Regularly: Repeat liver function tests (LFT) every 4-6 weeks. Check for any other symptoms like fatigue, yellow skin, or stomach pain. 3. When to See a Doctor? ⚠ If levels are continuously rising or not reducing after lifestyle changes. ⚠ If she has jaundice (yellow eyes/skin), vomiting, or severe weakness. ⚠ If the doctor suggests further tests like ultrasound, viral markers, or autoimmune tests.
