Hi doctor, My son is 3 years old and currently speaks 20 to 30 words apart from letters and numbers. He is talking the words but not using that for communication with us. Need a doctor opinion on his development assessment and based on this assessment whether we need to take speech therapy is to be decided.

I do not see any kind of delay in the speech of your child is speaking some words alphabets and understanding and responding well then it is not a problem but the thing is you should just try and communicate more and more try to teach a child to connect to words so that child learns better words vocabulary and also the learning statements to make plus you should narrate some stories and get the child into the habit of reading from day one itself when the child learns to read like ABCD so the childhood learn better over the period
