A. Yes. Once your baby is around 6 months and developmentally ready for solids, you can start with soft, mashed/semi-solid foods while continuing breast milk or formula as the main source of nutrition. 🌱 Good first foods 1. Cereals & grains Soft rice porridge Rice + dal mashed together Ragi porridge Oats porridge Soft khichdi (rice + moong dal + vegetables) 2. Vegetables Steam/boil until very soft, then mash: Carrot Pumpkin Sweet potato Potato Bottle gourd (sorakaya) Ridge gourd Peas, well cooked and mashed 3. Fruits Banana, mashed Stewed/soft apple, mashed Pear, cooked and mashed Papaya, mashed Chikoo, mashed Avocado, mashed 4. Protein/iron-rich foods This is especially important from 6 months: Moong dal Mashed lentils Well-cooked egg, starting with a small amount Soft, well-cooked chicken/fish, finely minced or mashed if your family eats non-vegetarian food Unsweetened full-fat yogurt/curd 🥄 How to start For the first few days: Start with 1–2 teaspoons once a day Gradually increase to 2–3 tablespoons, then according to baby's appetite. Introduce one new food at a time, especially common allergens such as egg, peanut, dairy, wheat and fish. Food should be very soft, mashed or appropriately textured, not watery. Gradually progress from smooth puree → mashed/lumpy → soft finger foods. Babies don't need to stay on completely smooth purees for months. 🚫 Avoid before 12 months Honey Added salt and sugar Cow's milk as the main drink Whole nuts/peanuts Whole grapes Raw hard carrot/apple Popcorn Hard chunks of meat Any food that can cause choking Also don't put cereal or other solids in a bottle. hope this will help you 😊
