Q.

#asktheexperts My daughter is 2 years 9 months old. She is having high fever. We have never given her antibiotics till now. Meftal P always worked, I really trusted my last doctor. now that I have moved to Bengaluru, every door here is prescribing antibiotics for fever. This time she had 102 temperature and we gave her Meftal P. Then took her to the new pediatrician who has prescribed antibiotics and ibuprofen syrup. After giving Meftal P fever went down and in 4 hours crossed 104. Should I consult another doctor or what should I really do. I really don't prefer giving antibiotics unless absolutely necessary.

A. It needs urgent attention please don't delay. Antibiotics are given only if infection is bacterial, based on doctor's exam/tests. Get a second opinion soon, don't skip treatment now..

A. Mam the fever is really high specially 104°F is too much so you should continue with what your doctor suggesting and if you’re not satisfied then you can of course change the doctor but currently I would suggest you to stick to the one that you are going to
