POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 6 m old boy5 months agoA. It sounds like your daughter has a cold with yellow nasal discharge, which usually suggests that her body is fighting off a viral or mild bacterial infection. Yellow mucus is common in colds and typically appears after the first few days of illness.
Here’s what you can do:
Use saline nasal drops to loosen the mucus and help clear the nose. Use a bulb syringe or nasal aspirator gently if she's too young to blow her nose. Keep her hydrated with plenty of fluids like water, warm soups, or breast/formula milk if she's under 1. Use a humidifier in the room or give her warm steam inhalation (indirectly) to ease congestion. Ensure she gets plenty of rest.
If she has a high fever, difficulty breathing, the mucus becomes green and smelly, or the cold lasts more than 7–10 days, consult your pediatrician to rule out a sinus infection or other complications.
