Fever is a response of the body defence mechanism against any infection or stress related factors. 
Viral fever or flu infection is commonly seen in children where the symptom could be fever cold redness and watering from the eyes and cough.
Paracetamol can be given and cold sponging of bodguy to reduce the temperature. In viral fever the fever will repeat after few hrs for at least 2-3  days and even last longer . 
Ibuprofen and mefanamic acid can be an alternative if fever still persist after paracetamol. 
Also hydration of the body should be maintained by giving proper liquid intake.
