Q.

Hi, my son is 2years and 7 month, weight 10.5 kg, last three days he was affected by fever, we gave him p250 and docter suggested antibiotic. he recovered from fever now, but he often crying and not eating anything. From doc advise I started to give cyclopam syrup... what to do?

A. After suffering from fever we also feel the same. You try to give him Roasted Makhana, fruits...he usually refuses to take daily food for some days, don't force for the same. We have to be very tricky while dealing with child during this period.

A. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initialltty antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed . Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever. Adequfate fluid intake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .
