It is very common for parents to worry about crawling, but I have some reassuring news: at 9 months old, not crawling yet is still considered well within the normal range of development. In fact, the medical community often views crawling as an "optional" milestone because some babies skip it entirely and go straight to walking! What is "Normal" at 9 Months? Most babies begin to crawl between 7 and 10 months, but some don't start until 11 or 12 months. Development is rarely a straight line. Pre-crawling signs: You might see her rocking on her hands and knees, "army crawling" (pulling with her arms while her belly stays on the floor), or scooting on her bottom. All of these count as progress! The "Skippers": Some babies focus on "cruising" (shuffling while holding onto furniture) and skip the floor-crawling phase altogether. Focus on other areas: Often, if a baby is slower to move, they are busy mastering "fine motor" skills (like picking up small bits of food) or "language" skills (like babbling). How to Encourage Her If she seems frustrated or you just want to help her build strength, you can try these play-based ideas: Tummy Time: Even though she’s older, spending time on her tummy builds the shoulder and core strength needed to push up. The "Out of Reach" Game: Place her favorite toy just a few inches beyond her reach to motivate her to scoot or lunge forward. Floor Time: Try to limit time in "containers" (like walkers, jumpers, or high chairs) and give her plenty of time on a flat, firm floor where she can move freely. Barefoot is Best: Letting her be barefoot helps her toes "grip" the floor, which gives her more traction for pushing off. When to Talk to Your Pediatrician While not crawling at 9 months is usually fine, it’s worth a check-in if you notice: She isn't sitting up on her own without support. She seems "floppy" or has very stiff muscles. She only uses one side of her body to move or reach. She isn't showing any interest in moving toward things. Since she has also had a persistent cough and a lower appetite, her energy levels might just be a bit low right now. Once she feels 100% better, you might see a "burst" in her physical activity!

RashmiMom of a 11 yr 4 m old girl2 days agoA. Yeah the entire process is seen between the time of 9 to 11 months so I would just advise you to wait and let your child have its own child going to reach milestone otherwise you can help your child by crawling around and showing how to do it
