Mom of a 8 m old girl1 week ago
Q.

My baby is 8 and half months old, and she wakes up almost every hour at night. Each time she wakes up, she wants to breastfeed and then goes back to sleep. This happens repeatedly throughout the night, and I’m extremely tired. Why is she waking up so frequently? Is this normal at 8 and half months? How can I help her sleep for longer stretches at night and reduce the frequent night feeding?

A. dear mum , frequent waking at night is common at this age not only hunger but because of sleep regression a normal development milestone baby is not able to bridge from one sleep cycle to another so wakes up needs feeding to soothe back have a fixed early sleep schedule , sleep routine like bath , sing to baby shush , pat not always feed
