A. At 4 months and 14 days, some babies begin to roll over, but it’s still within the normal range if your baby hasn’t started yet. Every baby develops at their own pace. The fact that your baby doesn’t roll even with gentle help might mean their muscles are still getting stronger, or they just haven’t figured out the movement yet. It’s not usually a cause for concern if your baby is otherwise active, alert, holding their head up during tummy time, and showing general muscle development. To encourage rolling, give your baby more tummy time while awake and supervised, place toys just out of reach, or lie beside them and encourage movement with sound and smiles. If by 6 months your baby still shows no signs of trying to roll or has very limited movement, consult your pediatrician for an evaluation.
