Q.

My baby is 18 months old but not comfortable outside the home. Whenever we tried to visit our neighbors or relatives, he not stayed there for more than 5 minutes. We tried a holiday but we failed to stay in the hotel room. We are curious why this happening and whether we should have to take any steps now. Thanks in advance!

A. Teary and tantrum-filled goodbyes are common with separation anxiety, which is a perfectly normal part of childhood development.Keep talking. Keep communication up and if they don't want to go outside, ask why they're feeling that way, she adds. “Model it; say, 'Darling, I'm feeling that at times it's hard to get going, are you finding that too? ' Empathy is important and so is sharing the common experience with your child.”
