POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 8 m old boy3 years agoA. Strokes in children most often happen within the first month after birth. These are sometimes called perinatal (or neonatal) strokes. Most perinatal (pair-ih-NAY-tul) strokes happen during delivery or right after delivery when the baby doesn't get enough oxygen while traveling through the birth canal. Most children recover following stroke. After the initial treatment, your child will receive physical, occupational, and rehabilitation therapy. The most common problem is loss of movement on one side of the body. Your child may also need help with learning, speech, vision, and behavior problems.
