Q.

Hi Doctor.. my son is 3 years old. He has issues with sleeping pattern. I am finding it difficult to make him sleep before 01:00 am. This disturbs the whole process. I am afraid this would affect his future development like schooling as he gets up late too. please suggest me the needful to be done

A. Sleep Cycle in smaller babies is very different and they have a certain pattern initially which becomes regularize at around 6 to 8 months of age and if the baby is comfortable with no irritability because of infantile colic nasal blockage any regurgitation etc you should not worry just give a comfortable position to the baby and no medicine is required. In children above one year of age you have to just make a proper discipline for the child so that gradually the child will develop a proper schedule and avoid vgtoo much of screen time and other activities at least one hour before sleep also make the room environment and temperature favourable for the child to sleep. toddlers may have night terrors and nightmares which needs to be managed accordingly.

A. If You want your child to sleep early then you just have to completely give up on the day time sleep because maybe your child is completing maximum sleep during the day time which is why your child is awake till one and once you start preparing a schedule from now and then later you will not face a problem at pre-schooling otherwise it will be a problem for you
