A. Even as children start school, family relationships are still the most important influence on child development. At 5-6 years, expect tricky emotions, independence, friendships and social play, lots of talk, improved physical coordination, and more. It’s good for children’s development to play with you, do simple chores, practise classroom behaviour, have playdates and talk about feelings. Speak with your GP if you’re concerned about your child’s development or you need support.
