#asktheexperts my one year old boy having cold 101.5 fever and and 101.5 fevers i have given him babygesic 1 ml and corominic syrup 1ml but still

A. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeatted after 4-6 hrs if needed . Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decregfase fever. Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .

A. The fever keep repeating within 4 to 6 hours again so you have to go ahead with giving medicine every six hours if it is needed Yeola fever doesn’t subside within 72 hours completely then you may take an advice with your paediatrician on this
