#asktheexperts Hi Sir, my baby is 45 days old, from last night she is having cold and nose congestion. We are giving her Nasoclear drops, do you suggest any other medicines for cold and cough?

A. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its prescribed. if any fever is there paracetamol can be givenc to reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated agabin after 6 hours if required .

A. good morning it is never advisable to use any medicine on your own I would recommend you to try to visit your pediatrician for a proper clinical examination and then use the medicine prescribed
