#AskTheExpert When 1 year old kid has cold . Doctor normally prescribe Antibiotic. Cold is caused by Virus. Antibiotics used for Bacterial infection. Then why Doctors prescribe Antibiotic.

Dr. Vaibhav jainFather of a 5 yr 9 m old girl3 years agoA. no it is not always that the cold is caused by virus do not use your brain because the doctor who is giving you medications as a lot of education and knowledge so please respect and trust your doctor in case you have trust issues better consult another doctor

Hi Antibiotics are mostly give it in two cases when there is a severe infection that a child is having which cannot be cured with regular medicines and sometimes it is only given when there is no other cure apart from antibiotics so that’s why it’s for regular issues for cold and cough they give regular medicines only not antibiotics
