POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy6 months agoA. Heat rashes (prickly heat or miliaria) are common in babies, especially in hot and humid weather. Since your 9-month-old has heat rashes on the forehead and head, here’s what you can do:
How to Treat Heat Rashes?
✔️ Keep the Baby Cool
Dress your baby in light, breathable cotton clothes. Keep the room cool with a fan or AC (not too cold). Avoid direct sunlight and limit outdoor exposure in hot weather.
✔️ Use a Cool Damp Cloth
Gently wipe the forehead and head with a soft, wet cotton cloth to cool the skin. Let it air dry.
✔️ Bathing and Skin Care
Give a lukewarm bath (not hot) with plain water or mild baby soap. You can add a little neem water or rose water to the bath for soothing. Avoid oils, lotions, and creams, as they can block sweat glands.
✔️ Apply Natural Remedies
Aloe Vera Gel – Fresh aloe vera soothes heat rashes. Calamine Lotion – Helps cool and heal the skin (use pediatric-approved). Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth) Paste – Mix with rose water and apply for 10 minutes before rinsing.
✔️ Keep the Baby Hydrated
Offer more breast milk, formula, or water (if baby is above 6 months) to prevent overheating. What to Avoid?
❌ Do not use talcum powder (it can clog pores).
❌ Avoid tight clothing or synthetic fabrics.
❌ Do not rub or scratch the rash.
When to See a Doctor?
⚠️ If the rash spreads rapidly, gets infected (pus or blisters), or baby has fever, irritability, or excessive crying.
