A. If your 10-month-old baby has had a persistent cough for 30 days, especially with vomiting at night, it’s important to have it properly evaluated by a pediatrician. Here are a few potential causes: Post-Nasal Drip: If your baby has any nasal congestion or a cold, mucus can drip down the throat while lying flat, triggering coughing and sometimes vomiting. This can be worse at night. Acid Reflux: Babies with gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) may cough, especially at night when lying down, and may also vomit due to stomach acid irritation. Respiratory Infection: Sometimes a viral or bacterial infection can cause persistent coughing. If the cough is not getting better or worsens, it could indicate something like bronchitis or even a mild pneumonia. Allergies or Asthma: Environmental allergies or asthma can also cause persistent coughing. This may improve during the day but worsen at night. It’s crucial to visit a pediatrician for a thorough examination. The doctor may suggest treatment options like nasal saline drops, a humidifier to help with congestion, or medication to manage the cough, especially if it's related to reflux or asthma. In the meantime, ensure your baby is hydrated and avoid exposing them to smoke or allergens.
