A. About 4 to 6 months after delivery, you may observe clumps in your hairbrush or clogging in your drain. This is postpartum hair loss and it gradually reduces as your baby turns one year old. This is due to the fall is oestrogen levels. This causes more hair to go into resting mode and fall 4 months after delivery. This phase lasts for 6-8 months. Contact your doctor whether any prenatal vitamin supplements can be given to you. Consume foods rich in iron, zinc and vitamins. Use a shampoo that increases volume in your hair and wash your hair only when necessary. Use combs with widely spaced teeth. Skip blow dryers and hot iron. Avoid tight hair styles and avoid stress. Include yoghurt in your diet and you can also mix it with some coconut oil and use as a hair mask and apply. Massage your hair gently with lukewarm oil before hair wash to improve circulation and increase hair growth. Drink amla juice or apply pure Amla oil to strengthen hair. Include dry fruits and flax seeds in your diet as they are rich in omega 3 which help in strengthening the hair.
