Boddhidharma Name Meaning

The name Boddhidharma has its origins in the Sanskrit language and comes from two separate words: "bodhi," meaning enlightenment or awakening, and "dharma," meaning the path or the teachings.

Boddhidharma, also known as Bodhidharma or Daruma, was a legendary Buddhist monk who is credited as the founder of Zen Buddhism. He is believed to have lived during the 5th or 6th century and was born in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India. Boddhidharma traveled to China and established the Shaolin Temple, where he taught meditation and martial arts techniques to the monks. He is famously known as the 28th patriarch of Buddhism in a direct line of succession from Gautama Buddha.
