it is better to avoid giving it.
because sometimes it can cause infection.
it is given to prevent and cure stomach problems like colic , indigestion etc
so instead of giving it ,I would suggest you to prefer natural ways.
for example
offer breastfeeds as per your child needs.
burp your baby well after each feeding.
give massage to your child daily
as you are nursing mother, eat easy to digest food.
