Why is my son not able to eat anything spicy?

A. If your child is sensitive to new foods, stick to blander fare for a while. Though they rarely trigger food allergies, spicy foods can irritate the digestive system and cause gastroesophageal reflux. As you introduce stronger flavors, serve small amounts of foods you know your child can tolerate.
